We are heading to Africa to visit some good friends Carol and Isaac Wlliams who pastor a Healing Place campus in Mozambique. We have been talking about it for years. Excited to be on the mission field, to see our friends, and to see how God stirs our hearts. Super stoked!

Brianna and I are fortunate to be connected to some incredible people in this world.  We are blessed by the relationship we have with brothers and sisters in Christ in Cuba.  They are truly amazing people because of their faith and hope in Jesus in the midst of enormous trials.  They claim this Prayer collectively as a group of believers.

From the West to the East of the Island we raise our voice in joy concerning Your majesty.  You are the Creator of the beauty of the earth and the beauty in the hearts of Your people.  You alone are our hope, hour by hour and from this moment through eternity.  We are weak but You have mercy on us and your hand strengthens us.  You protect us from the evil one and the thumb he uses to crush us.  We glorify Your name even in the midst of those who deny you and we sing “glory to the Righteous One” with up-lifted hands.

We have seen no righteous one except You.

Only You have kept your word,

Only You hear our cries,

Only You heal our diseases,

Only You increase our rice,

Only You stay the tears of our children,

Only You protect us from the pounding storm,

Only You bring justice,

Only Your remember us,

Only You have brought life and joy out of the ash heap of our lives.

You are the Righteous King who rules in our hearts and Your Son, Jesus, is our Savior!

Be encouraged wherever you are.  Be thankful this Christmas, and remember the One who give use the hope we have, Jesus.

I was surprised to learn last night that Brother Dave Ohlerking had passed on to be with the Lord.  He is one of those men who makes a lasting impression on you the first time you meet him.  My first encounter with Brother Dave was at an ARC conference in Baton Rouge.  He was so encouraging.  He founded Children’s Cup in Africa, which we have supported off and on for the past six years.  Over the years I have gotten to know his son, Dan, and his granddaughter Tori came out to serve with us in California.  The whole family is incredible.  The world was a better place because of him.  He was a man of God, and I am a better person for knowing him.  Our love and prayers are with the Ohlerkings.  We love y’all.

Yeah, he will be missed, but right now, he is kickin’ it with Jesus.  A life well lived.

1 Cor 5:6-8

6Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord–7for we walk by faith, not by sight–8we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. (NASB)

One can tell the business of my life by the frequency of my posts. For those who follow, sorry it has been a while. When I feel I have something inspired to post, I will post it.
Until next time, may God bless you and keep you and may his face shine upon you.

Pastor Scott gave a great message last night and threw down the gauntlet.  We must conquer our giants!  I have been reading Deuteronomy and came accross this encouraging scripture. Chapter 7:2 and when the Lord your God has delivered them (the giants) over to you and you HAVE defeated the, THEN you must destroy them TOTALLY.  Make no treaty with them, and show them NO mercy.  Some of us have been living with our Giants tooooo long.  Time to ask God for his power and deal with them once and for all.  Jesus is here and anything can happen.

The Bible tells us that we are in a race and we should run in such a way as to win the race.  It is referring to our spiritual life and how we should live it.  I have recently been inspired to get back in shape, so I jumped on the mountain bike and headed for the hills.  I learned a few things while I was out.

  1. Very shortly after I began my ride I wanted to quit, so as not to “over-do it”, but I persevered.
  2. It is ok to rest every now and again.
  3. When you’re really out of shape, you benefit from looking no further up the trail than 2′ or you will get discouraged by the lengthy uphill grade and want to quit.
  4. Sometimes you ride through a nice, fresh cow pie.  Not a big deal going up hill, much bigger problem going down (it doesn’t taste too good).
  5. The process is painful, but well worth the end results.

If you are wondering from where the divine inspiration came, refer to these verses below.  It is amazing how everyday life translates to spiritual insight.  Don’t discount the mundane.

1) Heb 10:36  2) Matthew 11:28  3) Psalm 119:105  4) James 1:2-4  5) Galatians 6:9

I figure I will play up the “Bachelor” a bit here to garner attention in Jesus name.  We had a great outreach at the Ageis Assisted Living Community on Saturday.  Our goal was to bless the residents of this community, many of whom enjoyed the conversation more than the rose.  Precious people who many times feel very lonely and forgotten.  We wanted to make sure they felt our love, but more importantly the love of Jesus.  We will be posting more pictures on our facebook page.

Bay Summit is looking forward to blessing the residents of the Aegis Retirement Community tomorrow with an early Valentine’s Day gift.  We will be giving each of the residents a rose to let them know they are special and that God loves them.  It will be our first trip to Aegis and want to build a lasting relationship with these precious people and the staff that care for them.

If you would like to participate in this outreach, we are meeting at Crossroads Church at 2:30 and will be departing for Aegis at 2:45.  Saturday, February 13. You can get directions by clicking on the link above.  It is going to be a blast.

Here are the “girls” prepping for the event.

Tomorrow night wraps up our series on the tangible power of miracles and the one who makes them possible, Jesus.  So far, people have been physically healed, emotionally restored, emboldened in their faith.  When we cry out to God he is, like a loving father, waiting to express his love when and where we need it most.  If you haven’t checked out Bay Summit or been a part of this series, please come tomorrow night.  You can listen to the message online at baysummitchurch.com/audio.
